The Peckhams were early settlers in Rhode Island living in Newport and across the bay in Kingston, Washington County. My interest is primarily on the offspring of Benjamin Peckham, Jr 1714-1792 and his wife Mary Hazard 1722-1805.
Of particular interest are their oldest and youngest sons: George Hazard Peckham
born 1739 and Peleg Peckham born 1762. George's daughter Sarah Taylor Peckham married Wheeler Watson in Newport 1799 and Peleg married Wheeler's oldest sister, Desire(e), in 1785. Both of these married couples moved to New York state and their offspring ventured further west. Their stories will unfold on this blog.
