My focus is on the Clark family descended from Dr. Adam Clark born in Albany County, NY about 1791 to as yet unidentified parents likely from Connecticut. He and Harriet Watson, daughter of Wheeler, had 8 children who produced 29 grandchildren, most of whom lived to adulthood.
Adam was a medical doctor who, later in life, turned to leather tanning as had many in Harriet's Watson family line. Harriet's brother John and brother-in-law Zadock Pratt were extremely successful in their leather ventures. The town of Prattsville, New York is named for him and the local museum recalls his life with two of Harriet's sisters, Abigail and Mary Elizabeth.
Adam and Harriet's children bring some additional tales of interest as their youngest daughter Eunice married into the well-known David Depeyster Acker family of New York and New Jersey. Eunice and her husband (Joseph) Park Acker frequented the family's "country home" in New Jersey which became the basis for naming the town of Fair Lawn in Bergen County.
